Why measure Glutathione level?

Glutathione (GSH) is an important antioxidant molecule that functions as a cofactor for a variety of enzymes and is involved in various biological processes.

A variation in glutathione levels is an indicator of oxidative stress. In some states, measuring total GSH which comprises both reduced GSH and oxidized GSH (GSSG), concentrations and their molar ratios can be used also for indicating the oxidative stress status.
